Mask Parade

On the first Friday of Term 3 Nelson Central took part in the Masked Parade. Room 2 dressed up as machines from Willy Wonka's factory. The theme was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We also had some main characters in Room 2: Lois was Veruca Salt, Malachi was Mike Teavee, Jude was Grandpa Joe and Sylvie was Mrs Bucket. Nayland Primary won the Supreme Award and Nelson Central School got a special mention.

Spud in a bucket!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to plant a spud in a bucket? Well you are in the right place!
Resource:
Seedling potatoes,
Bucket,
Compost/dirt/potting mix,
Water,
Scooper/shovel,
Vivid,
Stanley knife,
Steps:
1: Gather all the things you need that is above.
2: After, scoop the dirt/potting mix/compost into your bucket but only to 1/3 of the way.
3. Place your seedling in by getting your seedling, digging a little ditch and covering it with 1 cm of soil.
4. After placing the seedling in, water it only 1 cup of water.
5. Get your Stanley knife and poke a couple of holes in the bottom.
6. Finally wait for the surprise to come……

How to plant a ‘spud in a bucket’.
If you want to know how to plant a spud in a bucket you will need;
Seedling spuds, potting mix/soil or compost, a bucket, 1 cup of water, a nail and hammer.
 Step 1.Firstly you collect all the resources written above.
Step 2.However once you have everything; insert soil/compost/potting mix in the bucket until one third full.
Step 3.Place the seedling spud carefully in the soil and cover with 1 cm of soil.(tip; remember that the sprout must be pointing up!)
Step 4.Water your spud with 1 cup and finally poke a hole at the bottom of the bucket.
After a while you should have your very own ‘spud in a bucket’.   


HOW TO PLANT A SPUD IN A BUCKET
Materials: Seedling, spuds, potting mix, soil, compost, bucket, water, 1 cup, scoop-ice cream
Container and Stanley knife.

STEPS
1. Gather.
2. Scoop the soil and full it up to 1/3 of the bucket.
3. Place the seedling spud in the centre of the soil.
4. Cover the seedling spud in the soil up to 1 cm.
5. Water it.
6. Poke a hole in the bottom of the bucket.
7. Wait.
